What is mushroom.

The mushroom is a fruiting body of microorganisms called fungi that have a stem, a cap and gills on the underside of the cap.

Ingredients for oyster mushroom media preparation

To prepare 70 bags

Saw dust                     30 

 Rice polish                    3 kg 

Soya flour                  300 g

CaCo3                                         600 g

Magnesium sulfate          60 g

Water                              15 l – 20 l


 Preparation of the growing media

·         Mixed well all ingredients manually using shovels.

·    Dissolve Magnesium sulfate in water and spray water to keep moisture content between 65 to 75%.

 


 Ingredients and preparation of the growing media bags

§  Polypropylene bags   7 x 14 inches

§  PVC tube as caps       About 1 inches

§  Rubber band

§  Cotton

  • ·         Filled the bags with media and compact it.
  • ·     Place the PVC cap and pull out top of bag through PVC neck.
  • ·     Cover the hole with cotton and small piece of paper.
  • ·     Tie with the rubber band.








 


Prepared media bags

Sterilization of media bags

·         Add water to a barrel up to 6 inches.

·         Place iron screen inside the barrel and place bags.

·         Close the barrel tightly.

·         Sterilized around 2 – 3 hours.

·         Let it cool down through out a day.

                                                               

 Required materials and inoculate bags with mushroom seeds.

After inoculation, transferred grow bags to mushroom incubation house (dark room).

·         Incubation house – room temperature 25 C keep for 28 – 30 days until grow bag was fully covered.



                                          

Moved to the fruiting house

Fruiting house requirements

Ø  Temperature    26 C – 28 C

Ø  Humidity          85 C

Ø  Light                  50%

Ø  Good ventilation

·         Moved bags to fruiting house to prepare for fruiting.

·         Cut bags at the shoulder of the bag using a knife.

·         Spray water to control humidity in mushroom house.

 Mushrooms are ready to be picked 2 - 3 days after moved the fruiting house.
